It’s hard to believe that the leaves are already changing colors, students are settling into their routines for the semester and, if you get up early enough, you can barely see a cloud of vapor as you exhale. For me, September marks a couple of different things; marriage being one month away, the beginning of fall, and finally, a time to catch up from a summer of heavy renovations.
As I have started to breathe again and think about more than just the length of the next board I need to cut, I have started to look forward into the near, not so far future. This summer has changed me, and who I thought I wanted to be. To be honest, I don’t think I really knew what I wanted to be exactly, I just knew that it involved God, Cara, and some kind of outdoor adventure ministry. I have learned several new skills, and acquired a new love for creation through my position here at Campus House and Greyhouse that have led me to believe that maybe carpentry is an option. It’s humbling to crack a dovetail joint off of a piece you have been working on for a couple days and be forced to start from scratch. But it’s incredibly satisfying to know that after a great deal of patience and trust, a quality product can be achieved. And yet the coolest part is that God created all of it and, through Him, our creations can be made to glorify Him.
I am learning that, like carpentry, ministry takes time. Lot’s of time. And while it’s okay to push the limits of creativity and what’s been done before, it’s also wise to trust good, experienced counsel. I am so excited to see how God reveals His plan for my life through this unique opportunity to serve a ministry in ways I never thought possible.
For those of you who have been keeping Campus House and Greyhouse in your prayers, I thank you. With help from many of you, I have received pledges that equal out to about $390 per month, which is about 40% of the full amount that I need to raise in my first year (my overall goal is $958/month or $11,500/year). I am grateful for this support, but still need more help. Would you consider donating monthly towards my support, and praying for me? If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at the email address below. I can’t wait to report to you next month about all of the exciting things that happen from now and until then.
